I am a storyteller. When I was a child, I'd tell myself stories by drawing them out with pencil, or colored chalk, or shaping them with clay. Today, I'm still telling stories with the pictures of my mind. The people and places I depict may not exist in the way flesh and blood people do, but they are real to me , inviting me to participate in the creative power of the universe. What I witness is alive, and eternally unfolding. I become a tour guide to ancient cities, an ambassador to kingdoms in the clouds, and mysteries beneath the ocean. I am certain now that I can take you with me.
I paint stories of magic, of archetypal beings that walk between worlds, stories of my forgotten culture, and of all that has ever been buried, shamed, stolen, and renamed.
Many people have told me that they've seen my art in a dream, & that it makes them feel connected to a piece. I recognize that. In all realms magical and mundane, what humanity shares is more enduring than anything that would ever seek to divide us. We are interconnected. I paint to help us remember.
